NEW  DANCE  CLASSES

 

Dance Fit

Saturday 9-9:45am                     Beginning     Saturday                        January 17, 2009

This dance class is designed for adults who want to increase strength and flexibility to maintain health and fitness.  Dance Fit will incorporate various dance styles including Ballet and Jazz as well as Yoga techniques.  Learn proper exercises and stretches that can be done on a daily basis to help strengthen muscles, increase flexibility, and develop proper body alignment.  Recommended attire:  Exercise clothes and ballet or jazz shoes.

 

Ballet I (4-6)

Saturday 9:45-10:30am             Beginning     Saturday          January 17, 2009     

Let your little one explore movement and music through the wonderful world of ballet.  This introductory dance class will teach students the basic steps of ballet while learning how to follow direction and imitate movement in a positive environment.  Required attire:  Leotard, tights, ballet shoes.

 

Ballet I (7-9)

Saturday 10:30-11:15am         Beginning     Saturday      January 17, 2009           

This introductory class will cover basic ballet positions, movements, and combinations set to various music styles.  Students will learn ballet terminology, poise, turns, and dance techniques while developing a better understanding of musicality and rhythm.  Required attire:  Leotard, tights, ballet shoes.

 

Social Dance

Saturday 11:15am-12pm           Beginning     Saturday  January 17, 2009

It is never too late to learn ballroom dancing!  This class will introduce basic technical skills of various social dance forms such as swing, salsa, tango, and waltz.  It is designed for students with no dance experience as well as those wanting to learn diverse social dance forms.  Recommended attire: comfortable clothes you can move in and ballroom dancing shoes.

Sesame Street Music Works Program

Sesame Street Music Works program is an fantastic program designed for children ages 2-6  and their parents, grandparents, teachers and caregivers to be involved in music making. The program taps into the appeal of one of the world's most respected children's shows to reach a whole new generation of music makers.  Fountain Valley Music is a licensed education center for the Sesame Street Music Works Program.  Learn from the best!

 

This program aims to:

Show parents and caregivers the role music plays in a pre-school child’s development.

Provide means for parents and caregivers to make music with children regardless of musical talent or training.  Demonstrate that everyone can enjoy, make and value music.

Encourage a love of music in children during their formative years.

Illustrate musical links among cultures

 PIANO

Keys to Music for ages 4-8

This is a fun beginning piano or keyboard class for young children. Each class involves the child learning through many activities including; games, singing, stories and playing piano. This class is very interactive and parent participation is encouraged. Pianoland for ages 8-13

Pop Piano for Teens

For all of the aspiring pop stars we have the perfect course for teens with no previous musical experience.  We will learn the basics of piano playing along with chords and some current pop music.  Our approach will get you playing the music you want to play FAST! Materials Fee $20.00 before tax

Progression: This class continues onto Play Piano Now 101B.  The class is taught by the same instructor and continues to build on the work from the first course.  No new course materials are necessary.  We will continue to work from the same book.

 

VIOLIN

NEW Beginning Violin Class

Have you always loved the sound of violin and thought … I wonder if I could play?  Well give it a try from one of Orange County’s finest instructors!  Students will be taught proper posture, basic note reading, tempo and technique.  This is a great way to start the violin.  Call a friend and register today! Class Requirements:   Each student needs to bring their violin to class.  Instruments should have 4 fine tuners, be in good working order and be the proper size for the student.  If you need assistance with sizing please bring the student in ahead of the class. If you do not have an instrument one may be rented for a low fee.

 

VOICE

NEW Gotta’ Sing!  Today’s Top Hits

This is a fun vocal techniques class.  All ages are taught proper breathing, posture and technique.  You will learn how to train your voice while learning to sing in a group.  Music is age appropriate based on group interest, examples: Mylie Cyrus/Hannah Montana, High School Musical & more. Materials Fee: $19.95 (book lasts through multiple 6 week sessions)

Class 101A          Ages 7-12                       Beginning Monday – January 12, 2009                               5:00-6:00 pm              

Class Requirements:   Each student needs to bring their music to class. 

Progression: This class continues on to Gotta’ Sing 101B.  The class is taught by the same instructor and continues to build on the work from the first course.  Students can also continue in private instruction if they have a different musical interest.

NEW Guitar Restring & Tuning Workshop

This workshop is for all those who have a guitar in the closet with broken strings, or who got a guitar for Christmas and don’t know what to do with it.  Get it out and learn how to restring, tune and maintain your instrument.  If your guitar sounds “twangy”, register for this workshop.  Workshop meets one time. Students should bring their guitar to class and a new set of guitar strings to put on during the workshop.  All other supplies will be provided.  Free guitar picks will be issued to all attendees. Workshop Fee:  $15.00

Rock Guitar 101A

 

This class is great for all those who like to rock! Understand how to read tab, rhythms & learn technique to get the most from your music.  You will learn the skills you need to play the songs you hear on the radio. Guitar Made Easy 101A

This class is a basic approach to playing guitar and is intended for complete beginners with no previous experience.    Students will learn: Basics of reading music,  Learn rhythm and tempo,  Learn how to tune your   guitar.  This is a very popular & fun class.  Required Method book $12.95,

Class Requirements:   Each student needs to bring a guitar and the required method book to each class meeting.  If you do not have an instrument one may be rented for a low fee.   Progression:  Students who successfully complete Guitar Made Easy 101A are invited to enroll in “Guitar Made Easy 101B” or into private instruction.

 

Rock Block

Designed by professionals in the music industry for the young, gifted and hard working students who desire to perform along side his or her peers in a safe and encouraging setting.  Student players need to be committed to their group, dependable and ready to go.  Students are encouraged to recruit band members.  The performance coach will form bands for those students who do not register with their band.  Each performance session is 6 weeks and ends with a performance on the 7th week.  Each 6 week session will feature a different genre of music.  Classic rock is the basis of round 1.  Band members are encouraged to invite friends, family and peers to watch them perform.  In order for the band to be successful each member must commit to attending all 6 sessions prior to the performance.

Band Member Placement Meeting      Friday January 16, 2009       6:00-7:30pm  $15.00 for placement meeting only.  Band rehearsal schedule will be discussed with band members and parents at the placement meeting.  

 

 

 

GENERAL INFORMATION:

All classes are $90.00 for 6 weeks unless otherwise noted.  Material fees are noted in class descriptions.  ALL 101B courses continue on using the same course materials as in the 101A Course.  If parents are not sure which class may best fit the students needs they are welcome to call for more information.

Private Lessons are also available 6 days per week and can be started at any time.  All private lessons are tailored to each individual student for4 maximum results.
